About Reiki

Here is where you can find more information about what Reiki is and what to expect from the session with me. I recommend taking some time to read through the section for your own comfort and understanding

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for relaxation and stress reduction, which promotes and supports the body’s natural healing abilities. Reiki is the universal life force energy, which is spiritually guided.
Life force energy - commonly referred to as chi, ki or prana, exists and flows through pathways in and around bodies of all living beings. Stress and challenges of everyday life can impede the free and natural flow of this energy, hence over time (and if left untreated) the energy in our bodies may become blocked causing discomfort and disease. Various emotional, mental and physical symptoms may occur because of these blockages.

Reiki helps with restoring the energy flow to its optimum levels, and this in turn helps and enhances the body's natural healing mechanism.

Reiki works on all levels - mental, emotional, physical and spiritual, and it promotes overall well-being and balance.

Reiki is a very simple and subtle yet powerful energy healing method, which is suitable for everyone including pregnant women, children, and even animals. Reiki cannot do any harm.

Reiki is non religious and requires no belief, and therefore it is effective for people of any age, background or belief system.

What is Reiki?

Reiki Benefits

Reiki healing offers numerous benefits. Reiki energy healing is effective for most (if not all) mental, emotional, physical and spiritual issues or problems.

Reiki can help you heal if you suffer from or experience:

  • Anxiety, low mood or depression

  • Problems with sleep

  • Stress or problem relaxing

  • Pain or chronic illness

  • Getting sick frequently

  • Weakened immune system

  • Undergoing medical treatments or procedures

  • Feeling stuck in life or loss of purpose or direction

  • Low self-confidence

  • Feeling disconnected or scattered

  • Emotional or creative blocks

  • Simply want to feel better and more balanced.

Reiki may also help you expand spiritually and develop your intuition.

What happens during a Reiki treatment?

Reiki practitioners are trained to access pure life force energy from its source and do not share their own energy with clients.

The energy is offered through a set of hands positions, with the practitioner placing hands lightly on or off the body. For the treatment you will lay on a treatment couch, or can be seated on a chair - whichever feels more comfortable.

Reiki can also be done remotely, e.g. via a video call, and this has no impact on the effectiveness of the healing itself. Reiki can also be sent from a distance, i.e. without a person being present - this type of healing will also be completely effective as the one in person.

At the start of a session we will briefly discuss your intentions for the session and what you would like to be treated. I will also answer any questions that you may have.

In the first session we will start with a consultation, which includes explanation and information about what Reiki is and what to expect from the session. You will also have the opportunity to share your intentions and the ‘why’ you came for the Reiki session and a little about your healing/treatment history (this is optional and it depends on what you would like to work on).

It is important that you are comfortable during the session so it is advised to wear comfortable clothing. You will remain fully clothed during the treatment and you can choose to lie down or sit comfortably on a chair.

I will begin with basic hand positions and a scan of your body to identify any areas in your energy field that may need healing. I will also work with your chakras - main energy centres, which are located along your body.

Reiki is an intelligent energy and always goes where it is needed most, whether it is mental, emotional, physical or spiritual.

My Reiki sessions last for 1 hour. Although the first session will be for about 75 - 80 minutes to allow the time for consultation and background information.

What will I experience during the session?

During a Reiki treatment you may experience various sensations or images, they vary from person to person. A feeling of relaxation is experienced most commonly, other feelings include warmth, cold, feeling light or heavy, or a tingling sensation. Some people see colours or images, some may see memories from the past, and the meaning of those is individual to a person.

Whether a person feels a lot or a little does not indicate the amount of help received from Reiki. Reiki works on all levels, some of them are beyond our daily awareness, and every person has different awareness of themselves and their body too.

Some people fall asleep during the session and this is perfectly fine.

Reiki will always meet you where you are and knows how to best help you. Every session is unique and individual to a person.

What happens after the Reiki treatment?

Relaxation and a sense of well-being are most commonly reported as a result of a treatment. Other common effects include feeling lighter, calmer and peaceful, unburdened, less pain and feeling more balanced. Reiki works on all levels - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, so positive effects may be experienced at all these levels, and may last days or even weeks after the session.

Most people feel the benefits after just one session, others may need several sessions for Reiki to do a deeper healing and to see improvements for deeply rooted issues.

Some people return for regular sessions to help them de-stress and relax, and to bring a better balance and general well-being.

You may drink plenty of water after the session to help the body release toxins, and if needed you may allow more rest and relaxation to re-balance.

Occasionally a person may experience feeling a bit down, moody or have physical symptoms such as tiredness or headache. This indicates a healing reaction so you may allow some rest and self-care to ease these reactions. They are part of a healing process, indicating processing and release of energies, and they usually last up to a few days.

If you feel any discomfort or are concerned, please feel free to contact via the contact form with any questions.

Can Reiki cure a disease or illness?

Reiki is a complementary therapy and it does not cure or diagnose an illness. Reiki is a substitute for professional medical care. However, it works very well as a complement to traditional medical care, it helps people respond better and cope better with medical treatments, reduce pain and helps with emotional well-being. This is possible as Reiki promotes and supports the body’s natural healing abilities and enhances a natural healing process.
